You never know where to start something like this. I guess it's always best to start with the facts.
I grew up in a home brew family. I distinctly remember filling up our bath tub with water and helping my dad scrub the labels off the empty bottles he had saved. Then we would get the water piping hot and run each bottle under the water. One by one. Painstaking. But honestly, one of my favorite memories of my dad and myself. In the years that have passed I shifted away from beer drinking and explored the trendy world of craft cocktails and even wine (I have since decided I may not be a wine gal). Through a series of fortunate events, I recently began working at Whitestone Brewery as the marketing manager. It was upon my hiring that I realized just how out of touch I am with the craft beer world. In a matter of days, I heard jargon for everything from the way beer was made, to the type of beer, to the way it was served. I was a bit in over my head. I still am, if we're being honest. I know it's integral to my position here to understand the world of craft beer, but I wonder, what other curious minds exist out there who would also like to the know the most important things about craft breweries and brewing. What better opportunity than to educate you along with me as I seek to learn these things? It is my hope, and the hope of our team, that this blog will be essential in helping you learn how to navigate craft beer industry, and impress your friends with the need-to-know about how beer comes to be. Cheers!
